it's a rainy day here, and it's starting to cool off finally and i can feel fall coming.
with fall comes halloween, my favorite holiday of the year.
with halloween comes all the creepy things, so i was feeling a little damien hirst, a little mad scientist when i came across san francisco dealer's site sultana
if ever i need a medical chart or scientific specimen, or just a couple of taxidemy wild boar heads, i know where to go.

andrianna shamaris

while i'm thinking about wood, and wood grains, i remembered andrianna shamaris, whose work i've always loved.
the picture above is from house & garden's (rip) 2007 tastemakers,
and that image of her standing on that incredible coffee table always stuck with me.
i particularly love her work with clear cracked resin in the hollows of her wooden pieces.
one of those just might be my dream dining table.

so, next spring, one of my very best friends in the world, since middle school, is getting married.
i'm so thrilled for her - she's incredible and the future mr. clare is so great
i'm also so thrilled for the wedding.
i seriously can't wait - i've already developing new dance moves.
so, in honor of my silky heathen (clare) i've pulled together some bridesmaid's dresses that i think would allow us fancy ladies to
1) dance like lunatics
2) drink lots of champagne and beer
3) eat lots of cake and crabcakes

the color is sage
and the bride is a gem.

ken takahashi

so yesterday my boyfriend moved.
the circumstances were a little strange - his building is i think 104 years old, so half of it is basically disintegrating.
he had planned on moving out anyway, and because his apartment wasn't falling apart, the management company had his neighbor, ken, move in.
we come to find out that his neighbor, ken takahashi, is an incredible designer/artist.
he's designed for calvin klein home, martha stewart, ralph lauren, and banana republic, and disney.
he gave me one of the blossom accent plates, seen above, from the calvin klein graffiti collection, and i love it. the pattern is indented in thick ivory colored glaze - it's really really gorgeous.
he showed me his portfolio, and my favorites were for sure the graffiti collection for calvin klein, particularly the black mug below (and my plate!) and his work for martha stewart's collaboration with wedgewood (the "bouquet" plates in particular).
i also loved a paisley print he did for a banana republic bikini a few years back, and this summer another print of his, a bright tropical paisley on a ralph lauren gown from the 2008 cruise collection, is on display in the store's window on madison avenue.
the calvin klein collections as well as the martha stewart are all at macy's
and ken is incredible!

dumbo

yesterday was the greatest afternoon.

we went to dumbo to the baxter & liebchen showroom - which is awesome - to see the settee.
it was just as great as i expected!
hans olsen is my favorite
and it was so funny because it's tiny and when my boo was sitting in it he said he felt like shaq.

then we walked to the park along the water, and truly, dumbo is perfect.

i would love to live there, even though it's all families and older people, it's so quiet and clean, and the park is wonderful, and the views are wonderful, and it's just so great.
but anyway, it was a perfect day, and then it was even more perfect because all along the water were these crazy artworks and the best of all was michael mutt's creature.
it looked like some wonderful broken toy monster had come out of the water and was sunning himself.
monsters!

so then we decided to visit the waterfalls again.

i'm really not too crazy about them, but from the dumbo side, it looked really neat.

what a gorgeous day.
